Agriculture Cluster Response Dashboard As of March 2024

Conflict, drought, and high commodity and food prices continue to affect agricultural production and drive humanitarian needs in Ethiopia. An estimated 13 million people across the country require agricultural support. An estimated 3 million people require urgent agriculture support during the beg season. The limited access to agricultural inputs, particularly fertilizers and staple crop seeds is a major threat to the Belg agricultural season. During the Belg season the area planted by crop increased by 14% (3,123,797) when compared with the previous 2023 (2,691,758) same season. Ethiopia is experiencing poor economic conditions driven by the continued depreciation of the Ethiopian Birr (ETB) and high inflation, which is putting pressure on markets and driving high commodity and food prices.
