Global Partners Meeting, 11th July (online)

The FSC 2023-25 Strategic Plan: priorities and approaches to address global food crises together

About the Global Partners Meeting

The Food Security Cluster holds two Global Partners Meetings per year in July and in November. This represents a unique opportunity for global food security actors to meet and jointly discuss the food security response coordination, as well as the challenges and bottlenecks, in particular given the latest surge of climate shocks, conflicts and record-high levels of needs.

Background & objectives

Hunger is marching on and threatening to spiral out of control. As we embraced the relentless efforts of the global community and food security actors to rally extraordinary resources to fight food crises in 2022, we are alarmed by the state of food security globally in 2023: up to 153,4 million people in 38 countries/territories are projected to face high levels of acute food insecurity. Given the severe funding shortfalls, the humanitarian community is struggling to support the increase in caseloads.

As 2022 also marked the final year of the previous strategic plan, time had come for the FSC to pause, reflect and plan the new way forward to fight hunger and boost long-lasting resilience of affected populations. With the endorsement of the Cluster lead agencies and the support of the NGO members, through a wide consultation and dedicated task forces, the gFSC has identified and defined the pillars of the new 2023-2025 Strategic Plan.

The Global Partners Meeting will be dedicated to briefly scan the 2023 horizon and achievements as well as to present the 4 priority areas the FSC will see to achieve by 2025.
